We are seeking a dedicated and professional Optometrist to join our growing team.

Job Summary

The Optometrist will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care to our diverse patient base. This role involves performing detailed eye examinations, diagnosing and treating ocular diseases, and co-managing post-operative care. The ideal candidate will be a skilled clinician with excellent communication skills, dedicated to delivering personalized and compassionate patient care in accordance with New York State laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including precise refractions for eyeglasses and contact lenses.

  • Practice full-scope optometry as determined by New York State law.

  • Diagnose, manage, and treat a wide range of ocular diseases and medical eye conditions, including but not limited to glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome, and ocular infections.

  • Formulate detailed and timely reports for diabetic eye examinations and communicate findings with primary care physicians and other specialists.

  • Identify patients requiring cataract surgery, provide pre-operative education, and make appropriate and timely referrals to ophthalmologists.

  • Co-manage post-operative care for cataract and other surgical patients.

  • Prescribe medications for the treatment of eye diseases.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and compliant patient records using our electronic health record (EHR) system.

  • Foster a professional and compassionate environment for all patients.

  • Collaborate with our team of opticians, technicians, and administrative staff to ensure a seamless patient experience.
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry school.

  • Must hold an active license to practice optometry in the State of New York, including therapeutic certification (TPA).

  • Strong clinical skills in refraction, contact lens fitting, and medical eye care.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and managing ocular diseases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex medical information to patients.

  • Experience in formulating reports for diabetic exams and co-managing surgical patients is highly desirable.

  • A strong commitment to ethical and professional standards of care.
