Summary:
Hero is seeking a dedicated and experienced travel Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive medical surveillance and occupational health services throughout Washington State supporting the Washington National Guard (WAARNG). This role will focus on the assessment of job-related medical surveillance, physical examinations, and providing occupational health services at 4 locations throughout the state. This job is CONTINGENT upon contract award.
Essential Functions:
Conduct comprehensive medical surveillance screening and testing
Administer audiometric testing
Conduct Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), including FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio, and comparison with Hankinson/NHANES III standards and provide reports including respirator use clearance. Spirometry results will be signed by the medical director daily.
Calibrate all test administration equipment and interpret test results according to OSHA and ANSI standards
Perform Quantitative Fit Testing (29 CFR 1910.134) for respirator use
Conduct vision screenings, including visual acuity, phorias, depth perception, color parameters, peripheral vision, and NDI vision screenings
Perform audiograms, documenting hearing thresholds for pure tone test frequencies
Measure and record vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse)
Provide a thorough physical examination including a head-to-toe functional capacity exam, inclusive of weightlifting, range of motion, and identifying physical limitations
Verbally counsel patients on findings and provide wellness education
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
Perform Quality inspections daily
Work with base Occupational Health Nurse to schedule patients at least 15 days in advance.
Position Requirements:
Unencumbered Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in Washington State or willingness to obtain
Certification from a CAOHC-approved program for audiometric testing or willingness to obtain
Certification from a NIOSH-approved program for spirometry testing or willingness to obtain
BLS
Experience with Quantitative Fit Testing
Minimum of 3 years of experience in occupational health
Strong knowledge of OSHA and ANSI standards
Strong knowledge of HIPAA and protection of PII guidelines
Bloodborne pathogen CEU
Ability to calibrate and interpret results from medical testing equipment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to travel within Washington State
Ability to pass any credentialing or background checks as applicable
Completion of training modules prior to starting position
Experience in a mobile medical unit setting(preferred)
ACLS(preferred)

Physical Demands
The employee may be required to stand, walk, twist, turn, bend, climb, lift, or kneel. Occasional lifting to 25 lbs. may occur. Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work. Must be able to travel to operational sites and navigate various work environments.
