POSITION OPPORTUNITY:
The Grant & Database Specialist is a new position that will play a critical role within IMPACT. As such, it is positioned for success, reporting to the Fund Development Director and working in close partnership with executive leadership; program directors, managers, and supervisors; and direct service positions. IMPACT is the central access point for connection to the full range of family, health and social services in the nine counties that make up Southeastern Wisconsin. We offer assistance for a broad scope of services including food, housing, health care, mental health, substance abuse, legal assistance, transportation, employment, domestic violence, etc. and work with children, families, the elderly, veterans, those with disabilities, human trafficking and many more. We assess and guide those experiencing personal crisis toward resources to achieve stability; and collaborate with community partners to foster system improvement. Consequently, both our geographical footprint and the broad array of services provide unlimited grant opportunities.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Grant & Database Specialist at IMPACT will:
- Be able to articulate the capabilities of the programs and of the organization succinctly
- Develop and maintain an intimate understanding of the funding streams for all programs & services
- Research and apply for appropriate grant opportunities that match the funding gaps of the programs & services and of the organization
- Navigate multiple application portals, including private and public foundations
- Track, manage, and report on all applications, regardless of award status
- Maintain donor database and run reports
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
With support from direct supervisor, the Grant & Database Specialist at IMPACT will:
- Develop priorities and application goals
- Identify opportunities that match program and organization need
- Conduct research to find new opportunities that are programmatic and organizational fit
- Determine proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs; studying requests for proposal (RFPs) and attending strategy meetings, as needed
- Clearly communicate application requirements and deadlines with contributors including but not limited to: CFO, Program Directors, and Marketing & Communications
- Assemble proposals and reports for review and approval prior to submission
- Meet proposal and report deadlines
- Maintain the monitoring and tracking system, keeping key team members informed periodically and as requested
- Incrementally grow the private funding capacity for the organization
- Maintain accurate database and run report
- Actively participate in and support the organization's initiatives.
ABILITIES/SKILLS:
- Demonstrated excellence in writing, with an ability to match style and language to RFP and funder requirements
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator
- Flexible and able to multi-task, can work within a fast moving environment while driving toward clarity and problem solving solutions
- Technical documentation, formatting, and layout skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and contributions from multiple team members
- Team skills, including ability to communicate effectively and support team success
- Commitment to process improvement
- Deadline oriented, with an ability to set priorities and successfully meet timelines
- Passion, humility, insightful, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed
QUALIFICATIONS & WORK HOURS:
•Minimum of 2 years of experience in grant management or prospect research and database administration, or a minimum of 2 years comparable and transferable skills acquired in a professional setting.
•Reside in the state of Wisconsin and within 50 miles of IMPACT office
The position generally works M-F from 8:30am-5:00pm; however, the position has the ability to flex both hours and in office vs. remote. The position will work, as necessary to achieve success, to coordinate work, consult with colleagues, attend meetings, provide presentations, participate in agency activities and events, and yet have the ability to flex work hours in order to complete the work. The position will also be encouraged to join and become active in a philanthropic professional association with membership fee paid for by the organization.
