Job DescriptionSalary: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Anderson Humane is a progressive, limited-admission humane society serving the Chicagoland area, taking in approximately 4,000 companion animals each year. In addition to adoptions, we offer a wide range of community programs, including a pet food pantry, our STAR program for limited crisis pet placement, and a low-cost vaccination and spay/neuter clinic. We also operate a full-service Wildlife Center that annually cares for over 3,000 orphaned and injured wild animals. Anderson Humanes development department is seeking a part-time Development Assistant who will serve as the point of contact for donation inquiries, gift processing, and acknowledgement, as well as other administrative tasks.

What youll do

  • Ensure all donations are processed accurately and that the donors are thanked promptly.
  • Maintain donor files and electronic donation records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with Anderson Humanes finance policies.
  • Report donation financials to the Office Manager and the organizations leadership.
  • Answer donor inquiries with a cheerful demeanor.
  • Access a variety of databases and software programs to provide superior service and process donors financial gifts.

What to expect

  • Shared workspace among other team members.
  • A flexible work schedule, approximately 4 days per week in the office, possible weekend or evening hours when needed.
  • Willingness to accommodate animals in the workplace.

What were looking for

  • At least two years of administrative support experience; development or fundraising background is an asset.
  • Proficiency with donor databases (e.g., Raisers Edge, DonorPerfect, or similar CRM systems).
  • Availability to work a flexible part-time schedule of mornings, afternoons with occasional weekend or evening hours at Anderson Humane events.
  • At ease learning new software programs.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of professionalism.
  • A natural ability to juggle tasks and prioritize.
