Temp-to-Hire Legal Secretary – Full-Service Law Firm (Onsite | Costa Mesa, CA)
A well-established full-service law firm in Costa Mesa is seeking a skilled and motivated Legal Secretary for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This is an excellent role for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys supporting multiple attorneys, and is looking for a long-term home with a collaborative, professional team. This role would start as Temporary with a good chance of converting after 30-60 days.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to attorneys.
- Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents including correspondence, pleadings, motions, and discovery.
- Handle state and federal court filings (including e-filing).
- Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, hearings, and meetings.
- Maintain case files (physical and electronic); organize and track documents.
- Communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and vendors in a professional manner.
- Assist with billing, time entry, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Coordinate travel, scheduling, and general office support.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant, or Litigation Secretary in a law firm setting.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court rules, filing procedures, and litigation processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and legal practice management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and support several attorneys simultaneously.
- Professional, reliable, and able to work onsite in Costa Mesa.
