Job Summary: The Elementary Recess Assistant is responsible for ensuring the safety, engagement, and well-being of students during recess periods. This role will support students, teachers and staff by supervising students, fostering a positive environment, facilitating activities, and addressing any concerns to promote a safe and enjoyable recess experience.

HOURS: 25-28 per week

SCHOOL YEAR: Through May 2026

Essential Functions:

• Assist teachers with supervision during morning, lunch, and afternoon recess times
• Assist students with conflict resolution as needed.
• Conduct regular cheds of playground equipment and report any safety concerns or maintenance issues.
• Follow and manage playground rules for student safety.
• Perform clerical and non-instructional assignments as needed
• Ensure that students remain in designated areas and follow safety guidelines.
• Reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ
• Cooperate with HCS Administration in implementing all policies, procedures and directives governing the operation of the school
• Comply with all Hope Christian School policies and procedures.
• Attend all mandatory meetings, trainings, in-service, and chapels

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Knowledge and experience in classroom management
• Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or recreational setting.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Work Environment

• Primarily outdoors in various weather conditions
• Frequent walking, standing, and engaging in physical activity
