Job DescriptionYou will be the medical assistant to two general surgeons. Your job will be to provide care for and support to patients under the direction of the physician. This job will consist of some busy days and some days with down time to catch up on daily work.
Sample responsibilities include:
- Greeting and preparing patients for their visit with the provider by obtaining their vitals, review of systems, and medications. You will then input this information into the Electronic Health Records System.
- Assisting in surgical office procedures: sterilizing and cleaning the instruments, using sterile technique to set up for the procedure, occasionally assisting during the procedure, and dressing the wound. Sending out pathology as needed.
- Scheduling patients for their Colonoscopy/EGD procedures. Entering in recall information.
- Perform EKGs.
- Help patients navigate physicians’ treatment plan by ordering labs, imaging, and sending outgoing referrals and obtaining prior authorization as needed per patients insurance. Following up on labs, imaging and referrals and inputting results in patients chart.
- Administering medications and vaccinations.
- Managing patient flow.
- Clinical supply orders.
- FMLA forms.
- Cleaning and Stocking exam rooms.
- Assisting with phones as needed and occasional checking in patients at the front desk.
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma (or GED equivalent)
Completion of a Medical Assistant Certification program preferred, but not required. We will consider on the job training as experience and are willing to train the right individual.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be able to multi-task, have great time management and organizational skills, work well with others, work well under pressure, be reliable an dependable.
Hours are Monday-Thursday 830am- 5pm and Friday 830am-3pm
