Pay range for new hires: $20.88 - $33.40 / hr

Job Overview:
Based out of the hospital in Aspen, CO, the Medical Records Technician collects daily discharged paperwork from different departments throughout the hospital and scanning of such documents into epic under the correct patient, encounter, and document type. Performs medical record analysis to facilitate timely readiness for coding and billing, this includes initial analysis and final analysis (clearing of deficiencies and completing records). MPI maintenance and consolidation. Release of Information to patients and providers. Keeping with Best Practice HIM protocols, the Medical Records Technician is responsible for workflow efficiency and complying with industry standards of chart management, content and authentication.
Primary Scope of Responsibilities:
- Coordinates one or more patient visit type to include scanning, analysis, final analysis, archive filing, MPI consolidation, and data quality.
- Performs said duties with accuracy and within defined time requirements.
- Performs release of information duties.
- Ensures productivity and quality standards are maintained daily to provide for timely access to medical records.
- Adheres to federal, state and hospital rules and regulations concerning HIPAA privacy and security.
- Performs scanning of documents 24 hours after discharge during business days to make documents available in epic in a timely manner.
- Performs analysis of daily discharged encounters within 24 hours of discharge date in order to make incomplete charts available to physicians/providers in a timely manner.
- Monitors physician completion of incomplete charts, clears deficiencies timely; and assures replacement scanning is up to date.
Minimum Qualifications & Preferred Requirements:
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an acute care hospital medical record department is preferred (not required).
- RHIT Certification is also preferred (not required)
