Core Function
The Tooling Specialist is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of approved tools by executing the following duties:
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots issues with injection molds.
- Recommend and oversee mold repair and maintenance.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive maintenance actions.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, to create, modify, and analyze tooling designs as needed.
- Fabricate and maintain tooling, fixtures, jigs, and dies to support production.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble molds, jigs, tools, and fixtures as needed.
- Coordinate with external vendors for outsourced tooling repairs and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with various departments to address and implement customer requirements.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with 5S and workplace safety standards.
- Report safety concerns and injuries promptly, ensuring adherence to plant safety protocols.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma; and 2-Year Degree from an accredited technical college, prior experience working in a tool room can be substituted for education.
Training Requirements
Received training from an accredited 2year skilled trade school, prior experience working in a tool room can be substituted for education.
Experience Requirements
This position requires at least 2 years of experience supporting a full-service tooling department
Skills Requirements
This position requires the following skills: forklift driving, tool assessment, tool cleaning, mold set-up, and in some cases, proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) software, including AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Physical Requirements
Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Visual Acuity
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as; preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and or operation or machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distance close to the eyes.
