$45,521.00 - $71,055.00 yearly
Material/Process Inspector II (B19):
$48,244.00 - $76,028.00 yearly

Position Description
Material/Process Inspector I and II: Performs material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
The essential duties for a Material/Process Inspector I and II include:
- Conducts nuclear density tests on subgrade, base and asphaltic concrete pavement.
- Conducts pavement evaluations in the field.
- Coordinates test and inspection results with engineers, inspectors and material producers and suppliers.
- Investigates compaction problems associated with hot mix asphaltic concrete.
- Keeps equipment mileage and service records and schedules equipment repairs.
- Maintains a diary of inspection or test details.
- Maintains and calibrates equipment.
- Maintains field record books for each construction project within assigned area office.
- Performs tests and inspection duties.
- Records test data on worksheets and performs calculations to convert raw data into specific units of measurement.
- Reports test results to field construction personnel and may assist in determining cause for material problems.
- Secures, logs in and prepares samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various stages of production for
testing. - Drives/travels to laboratories, manufacturing plants, points of supply, warehouses and project sites to monitor status of
programs - Works full-time at a geographically separated location.
Additional duties for a Material/Process Inspector II include:
- Handles material or production problems referred by less experienced inspectors.
- Prepares and maintains inspection or test reports and issues material reports.
- Reviews plans and material specifications for changes in material requirements.
- Coordinates core drill or auger rig operations.
- Maintains inventory of test supplies.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education - Material/Process Inspector I and II: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
Experience:
Material/Process Inspector I:
None
Material/Process Inspector II:
1 YEAR Laboratory work, material inspection or other eng-related work (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Must have or obtain certification in one of the listed HMA certifications within 12 months of date of hire:

- Hot Mix Asphalt Spec-IB Cert
- Hot Mix Asphalt Spec-II Cer

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
- Subject to noise
- Subject to vibration
- Subject to hazards-moving vehicles/mechanical parts, high places/heat, or chemicals
- Subject to atmospheric conditions-fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation
- Medium work: Lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
- Standing-prolonged periods of time
