Full Time

Duke Energy is seeking a highly experienced Electrical Field Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical engineering, with a strong background in design review, generator step-up transformers (GSU), and transmission systems. This role requires the ability to write specifications, review designs, and work across cross-functional teams. Experience in nuclear and hydro backgrounds is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct design reviews and provide feedback on electrical systems.
Review and evaluate designs for generator step-up transformers (GSU).
Write detailed specifications for electrical projects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
Present technical information and project updates to stakeholders.
Travel once a week to various project sites.
Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical guidance and support to project teams.
Develop and implement electrical engineering solutions to improve system reliability and efficiency
Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of electrical issues
Participate in the planning and execution of maintenance and upgrade projects
Ensure all engineering activities align with industry standards and best practices

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering.
Strong experience in design review and generator step-up transformers (GSU).
Experience in writing specifications for electrical projects.
Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and within cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Background in transmission systems.
Excellent presentation and communication skills.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
Experience in nuclear and hydro backgrounds is highly desirable.
Construction experience
