The Vice President of Business Development for Hospice is responsible for leading the strategic planning and execution of growth initiatives within the hospice sector. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, forging strong relationships with key stakeholders, and driving revenue growth through innovative strategies and partnerships. The VP of Business Development for Hospice will collaborate with senior leadership to align business development efforts with the company's overall objectives and ensure sustainable growth.
Essential Functions:
Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to drive growth in the hospice sector.
Identify and evaluate new market opportunities and potential areas for expansion.
Set annual and quarterly growth targets and ensure alignment with overall company goals.
Market Analysis and Research: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, competitive landscape, and potential business opportunities.
Analyze data to inform strategic decisions and optimize business development initiatives.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, insurance companies, and strategic partners.
Negotiate and manage contracts, agreements, and partnerships to maximize business opportunities.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the business development team and area sales directors, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skills and capabilities.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with senior leadership, including the VP of Business Development, VP of Business Development for Home Health, CEO, CFO, and other department heads, to ensure cohesive and aligned business development efforts.
Communicate progress, challenges, and successes to stakeholders through regular reports and presentations.
Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the business development budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
Monitor financial performance and adjust strategies as needed to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.
Participate actively in continuing education and in-services.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and business trade practices.
Assume accountability for reporting incidents and complaints according to Agency policy.
Willingness to travel frequently as required.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Minimum Position Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the hospice or healthcare industry.
License / Certification: Driver’s license and proof of current auto liability insurance; no listing in the OIG Excluded Provider listing.
Environmental Conditions:
Works under a variety of conditions in facilities and offices; promoting efficient functioning and coordination of agency activities to ensure the highest level of professional patient care. Ability to work flexible schedule, ability to travel locally, some exposure to unpleasant weather. Moderate noise level; inherent potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; moderate stress and emotional demands.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged sitting is required. Requires ability to always handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner. Requiring working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and agency needs.
