Job Overview

The Project Manager (Civil) is responsible for applying the practical application of engineering principles to design infrastructure for municipal, commercial, or residential land development projects. The Project Manager leads, and delegates work to, a design team often for multiple projects at a time, and is responsible for delivering the project within the given project schedule, project budget, and client directives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the preparation of site civil site drawings including, but not limited to, site plans, grading plans, demolition plans, utility plans, drainage plans, erosion control plans, and related detail sheets.
  • Supervise and/or performs necessary engineering calculations required with the design of civil construction plans.
  • Manages the civil design portions of a project/development, often from entitlements/site design through construction.
  • Manages all administrative facets of the project including, but not limited to writing proposals, managing project schedules, personnel, client expectations, invoicing, and project delivery.
  • Manages the assigned project team consisting of staff engineers and design technicians.
  • Project Managers are expected to be the technical expert for the project team and in the preparation of construction documents and therefore, may be responsible to sign/seal drawings for construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation in the State of Texas.
  • At least 8 or more years of experience in the area of discipline being applied for, and able to show previous and relevant responsibilities in project management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, clients, and public agencies.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD-Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suites, and design software such as StormCAD, PondPack, Hydroflow, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with effective communication and leadership skills, oral and written.

Working Conditions

  • Frequently required to be and remain in a stationary position at a desk using a keyboard and mouse.
  • Frequently communicating and exchanging information with clients, peers, and vendors via mobile devices or computers.
  • Frequently moving through offices, buildings, construction sites, and other environments.
  • On occasion, the employee may be required to position themself under, around, or over equipment, and site utilities.
  • On occasion, the employee may be required to drive in a vehicle and transit to project sites.
  • Verbal and written communication is required, as well as the ability to hear.
