Description

Job Summary: Cutting material for customers and maintaining the band saw through routine preventative maintenance.

Salary: $21.00-$23.00/hr.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Reads work order to locate cutting layout lines on stock, determine dimensions and tolerances, and determine metal to be cut, type of blade to be used, blade tension, cutting speed, feed rate, table angle, and positions of table stops and guides; other duties may be assigned from time to time.

  • Turns controls to set prescribed cutting speed, feed rate, and table angle.
  • Loosens table stops and guides and positions them to align and secure the workpiece.
  • Places stock on the cutting table and clamp it into position.
  • Able to calibrate saw and perform daily maintenance and cleaning.
  • Knowledge of Saw functions: Power button and all switches.
  • Read drawings.
  • Set degree of Miter.

    Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability

  • Ability to read and write comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Math Ability

  • Basic Math Skills: adding, subtracting, decimals, and fractions.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
