Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial transactions are accurately and timely recorded including reconciliations, monthly close activities, as well as supporting the business controller with reporting the business segment’s results to the parent company (Aemetis, Inc.) within a multi-entity segment reporting structure. This role requires experience with bank construction accounting funding cycles in collaboration with our third-party administrator, TetraTech. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, with a minimum of 4-7 years of experience, and will demonstrate proficiency in financial software and reporting tools, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage complex reporting requirements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
· Purchase to Pay Cycle: Own the segment level accounts payable process, including check run requests and the management of payments across multiple entities and vendors. Coordinate purchase process with segment team to ensure accuracy within the recording of purchase orders and vendor invoices.
· Funding Coordination: Facilitate third-party funding request cycles, ensuring the timely and efficient processing of funds and transactions while managing internal controls and meticulous record-keeping practices.
· Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with internal departments and external partners to manage financial transactions and ensure compliance with all funding requirements.
· Process Improvement: Analyze and enhance workflow processes to optimize efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
· Vendor Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with multiple vendors, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and payment schedules.
· Account Reconciliation: Perform regular account reconciliations and job completion analyses to maintain accurate financial records.
· Monthly Close Cycle: Prepare monthly close schedules and reports at the direction of the Business Controller, including tracking for major capital projects.
· Order to Cash Cycle: Assist the Business Controller with invoicing, journal entries and supporting calculations for revenue recognition.
· Compliance and Reporting: Support California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) grant reporting, submissions, and audits, ensuring all activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Analyze accounting against operating results for reasonableness.
· Administrative Support: Provide additional administrative support as needed to assist with the smooth operation of the accounting department.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
· At least 4 years of experience as an accountant
· Ability to produce work with a high level of accuracy
· Able to handle moderately complex transactions and aspects of the business
· Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills; strong team player
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Analytical skills and the ability to problem solve
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Dynamics (Finance and Operations), and Black line (preferred)
· CMA a bonus, but not required
