Description
Socket Telecom is seeking full-time technicians/installers with excellent customer service and willingness to learn to join our team. As a Field Service Technician, you would be responsible for providing professional on-site installation of residential and business customer products and services, including internet and phone. Experience is preferred, but we do offer PAID On-the-Job training!
We are currently seeking candidates who can work our standard 8 am-5 pm shift, shifts extending past 5 pm, and 10 am-7 pm on Saturdays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
•Maintain written installation procedures
•Test all services and products after installation
•Intermediate to advanced understanding of telecommunications fundamentals
•Work with customer service employees and customers, to resolve issues
•Handle questions and concerns presented by customers and vendors
•Communicate with various LECs to resolve issues affecting port dates
•Complete customer number port by working with the customer's PBX vendor and/or Alarm system vendor to ensure successful turn-up of services prior to and during customer transition
•Complete tasks on time
•Accurately updates task notes
Requirements
TECHNICAL DUTIES
•Be able to pull cable, terminate, and cable standards, closet build-outs, building/fire codes
•Be able to use test equipment as well as how to test connections
•Install and repair phone lines, DSL, and other related services
•Installation of cabling at a customer's premise
•Experience installing CAT 5 cabling
•Familiarity with phone system programming
•LAN/WAN experience
•Tests and installs customer ADSL, xDSL circuit orders with the appropriate LEC
SKILLS
Strong analytical and communication skills
Proactive and responsive problem-solving skills
Physically able to repeatedly lift 15 lbs and occasionally lift up to 70 lbs
Able to regularly use and manipulate specialized tools and equipment, and climb ladders
A clean driving record is required.
Associates Degree and/or equivalent work experience in the Telecommunications/Internet field is preferred.
