The experienced insurance professional will underwrite construction risks for environmental and professional exposures on practice and project basis, for contractors and owners. They will also underwrite site environmental liability for specified appetite; and follow form excess opportunities for both contractors and owner exposures.Job ResponsibilitiesUnderwritingAgility in underwriting to efficiently and comprehensively review submission documents to determine acceptability of risk in accordance with Sompo guidelinesDemonstrate a solid understanding of pricing and rating methodology Price risk based on underwriting and competitive analysisManage and justify rate changesSelect, price and craft terms and conditions for risks in an innovative and competitive mannerCommunicate with strong sales and negotiation skills to promote Sompo proposals and brand, that result in positive production resultsExhibit strong decision-making skillsAdhere to guidelines, authority and referral processMaintain underwriting discipline to minimize exposureDistribution & MarketingEstablish and maintain distribution relationships to includeRegional and national distribution partners with generalist and specialty focus on construction, professional and environmental productsRetail and WholesaleIdentify, qualify, manage and maintain distribution relationshipsGenerate new business pipeline for specified classes and manage business renewal bookDrive new business volume and production, along with marketing and sales responsibilitySkills and ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of underwriting/insurance experience in environmental, construction or professional areasBachelor's DegreeStrong market presence and visibilityConsistent production track recordExtensive depth of product and market knowledge Ability to establish, manage and maintain distribution and clientsStrong marketing, sales and negotiation skillsAbility to work as a part of a team with a collaborative communication approachConsistent emphasis with attention to detailExcellent oral and written communication skills Ability to present referrals, products, and capabilities to various audiences in different settingsSalary Range: $100,000- $180,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.At Sompo International, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
