Position Summary
As a Senior Solar Design Engineer at Rayva, you will be responsible for the technical design of our advanced BIPV solar solutions, with a focus on optimizing for performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability. You will also help oversee product testing and development. This is a hands-on role that requires deep technical expertise of solar design (electrical and mechanical) to help bring our innovative solutions from initial concept to real-world deployment. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of integrated solar technologies for residential applications.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a pertinent field of engineering, Masters or PhD preferred
5+ years of experience designing and developing residential solar technologies to include laminates, frames, systems architecture, etc
Extensive knowledge of and experience with the UL/IEC + CEC requirements, testing, and certification process for residential BIPV solar technologies such as UL 7103, UL 61730, UL 790, etc
Highly proficient with CAD modeling and simulation, SolidWorks preferred
Demonstrated knowledge and application of systems engineering principles
Experience with ISO 9001 compliance
Bonus Points: Experience working with contract manufacturers for laminate and frame fabrication, including those outside of the US
Bonus Points: Experience developing BIPV solutions for extreme heat regions such as the Southwest US
Bonus Points: Experience building your own startup or prior experience working for a startup
** Please do not apply for this role if you do not have direct electro-mechanical experience designing and developing PV modules. Having experience with CAD, simulation, manufacturing, robotics, batteries, EVs, or even designing solar installs, etc is helpful but not solely sufficient for this particular role. You MUST have extensive experience designing and developing solar modules to be considered as it is the critical skillset we need for our team.

Start Date: Late January to Mid February 2025
Location: Hybrid - Phoenix, Arizona (South East Valley)
Remote work is encouraged and supported but there will be tasks, duties, and responsibilities relevant to this role that will require attendance in person. We try to minimize this, but uncertainty and unpredictability is the nature of R&D at a startup so you must be flexible and adaptable to be on-site when necessary to ensure successful completion of project goals.
Reports To: Chief Product and Technology Officer
Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000
Travel: Limited, but may be required if visits to testing and/or manufacturing facilities is necessary
