Full Time

The position is hands on and the mechanic will be responsible for repairing and performing preventative maintenance on the company fleet of vehicles and equipment. The mechanic maintains the fleet by inspecting and servicing vehicles and equipment, conducting performance tests; diagnosing problems; repairing or replacing parts. This position reports directly to the Shop Manager in accordance with Company policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and service designed by the Company for a variety of landscape power equipment including commercial mowers, 2 cycle equipment, utility vehicles, trucks and trailers
  • Operate safely and maintain shop in a clean, orderly manner
  • Schedule service and maintain vehicles & equipment in good working condition
  • Responsible for PM services; sharpening blades, grease equipment, change the oil in all equipment including all trucks, trailers and mowers
  • Perform full inspections of trucks, trailers and lawn maintenance equipment in order to prevent issues before they become safety issues
  • Work directly with employees addressing concerns with trucks, trailers & equipment
  • May be asked to travel to other locations operated by the Company with possible overnight stay on larger jobs
  • Other tasks as assigned including facility maintenance and repairs; the nature of the position may require extended hours at times
  • The shop is 6,000 square feet with standard equipment to perform all tasks.

Skills and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual will possess the following combination of education, experience, skills and qualities:

  • A professional with a minimum of five (5) years COMMERCIAL repair experience with mowers, small engines, 2 cycle equipment and light trucks and trailers
  • The professional will provide tools with locking toolbox necessary to perform the work
  • Must be able to reach overhead, work in various positions (including stooping, standing, bending over, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance of tools or other personnel, push and pull materials and equipment repeatedly throughout the work day
  • Advanced automotive repair experience
  • A team player with excellent communication abilities
  • Strong organizational skills, shop cleanliness, inventory and parts ordering, desire to stay proactive and not reactive as it applies to preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus


Must have valid Florida driver's license and clean driving record
