Clayco is currently seeking a licensed Senior Structural Engineer to join our design team. In this role you will be working with in-house Development, Architecture, and Construction teams to provide Structural Design and Quality Assurance on industrial (distribution, manufacturing, food and beverage, and cold storage) projects for our nationwide clients.Why Work In-House for a Design/Build firm (CLAYCO)Structural Engineer is involved from the beginning to foresee preliminary design problemsFocus is on problem solving instead of finger pointing. The Architect, Engineer, and Contractor are on the same team.Project designs based on construction schedule versus fully finished packagePreliminary pricing advantages due to historical construction experienceValue engineering is ongoing as the design is refinedInput from jobsite can identify construction issuesProjects can be designed to the builder's strengthEasier for engineer to issue changes or make revisionsOpportunity for site and Quality visits to assist in solving field issuesRelationship building with Field Staff (Superintendents and other on-site personnelRequiredMinimum of Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architectural Engineering with Structural emphasisMaster's with Structural emphasis preferredMinimum of 5 years of experience designing commercial projects, ideally industrial (warehouse, distribution, e-commerce, manufacturing, cold storage, food and beverage)PE and/or SE license requiredTeam oriented attitudeResilient and adaptable to changesSome things you should knowThis position is based in Birmingham, ALOur clients and projects are nationwide - so some travel will be requiredNo other builder can offer the collaborative design-build approach that Clayco doesWe work on creative, complex, award-winning, high profile jobsThe pace is fast
