OTA Occupational Therapy Assistant (Part Time In-house)

The Occupational Therapy Assistant plans, organizes, develops, and directs Occupational Therapy Services in the facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator or supervisor, to ensure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.
Shift and Schedule: part-time 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Essential Duties:
1. Conduct regular screening of residents to figure out the best intervention or treatment for each individual patient based off scope of practice
2. Perform treatment plan to residents; follow short and long-term goals and methods to achieve goals based off the established plan of care by supervising therapist
3. Interpret and communicate evaluation findings, treatment plans, and recommendations to residents, families/caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members
4. Establish individual resident therapy schedules in cooperation with other team members
5. Conduct therapy according to established treatment plan and ensure proper documentation and billing of occupational therapy services
6. Perform all other duties as assigned and as required to effectively treat patients
7. Comply with all CMS documentation standards of practice daily with point of care documentations as indicated
Other Duties
1. Assumes responsibilities for personal work areas and maintaining areas in a presentable manner.
2. Observes all safety rules and regulations.
3. HIPAA Compliance - follows written policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality of protected health information.
4. OIG Compliance - follows written policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state laws and regulations.
5. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
6. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by direct supervision or administration.
Qualifications
1. Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy
2. MUST have active OTA licensure in Maryland
3. Ongoing continuing education and professional development
4. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
5. Compliance with North Oaks Immunization requirements.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; may be exposed to blood and body fluids which may contain HIV and/or HBV; must be able to transport residents via wheelchair, gerichair or shower chair; pushing up to 150lbs., unassisted. Must be able to transfer, lift, turn, and position a resident weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs. Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, squat, and walk for up to 90% of the workday. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.
