Job Description
JOB OBJECTIVE:Perform complex Human Resources management work in a fast-paced, multi-project environment. Provides full life cycle recruiting, talent management, and employee support services for the agency. Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations and laws. May train others. Work under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
JOB OBJECTIVE: The THC Education Program Coordinator will develop innovative and engaging educational programming and materials rooted in Texas history and historic preservation strategies for Texas audiences and particularly K-12 learners, educators, and other learning communities. Under the direction of the History Programs Division (HPD) Director and the Agency's Executive Director, the Education Program Coordinator's work will include collaborative strategic planning with agency division leadership and staff, dynamic outreach to academic/history-focused organizations as well as community and state agencies for programming partnerships, coordination of the development and delivery of multiple-media instructional materials, public presentations, and supervision and evaluation of HPD education department staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.Provide strategic planning and leadership skills to the identification, development, delivery, and assessment of short and long-term educational programming initiatives through collaboration with multiple agency divisions.
2.Develop program goals and schedules for specific Preservation divisions-based education initiatives.
3.Prioritize ongoing programming and materials development needs through active consultation with agency divisions and education communities, with emphasis on major events and initiatives like Texas Archeology Month and the Real Places Conference.
4.Supervise in-house and outside content creation of K-12 curriculum resources and additional Texas history/historic preservation educational materials and collaborate with the Historic Sites Chief Educator to reflect best practices, innovative design, pedagogical appropriateness, TEKS alignment, and THC brand guidelines across multiple delivery platforms.
5.Provide project management for initiatives involving external vendors/contractors.
6.Expand educational resources featured on the agency's Learning Resources webpage.
7.Assist with development of education-focused website content and social media outreach for the agency.
8.Schedule and provide in-person or web-based outreach experiences featuring THC educational materials to students, educators, and public audiences, and attend and present at professional development and history-focused conferences.
9.Increase awareness of THC educational content to the public, particularly K-12 learners, educators, and other learning communities by developing relationships with those groups and through various platforms, including listservs.
10.Stay current with and expand the application of emerging trends in engaging and effective pedagogical strategies, materials development and delivery, and professional development needs.
11.Contribute to and assist in editing agency reports and special publications.
12.Collaborate with additional division and site-based educators as needed.
13.Support Commission programs as needed.
14.Consult as an education specialist on agency committees, grant requests, or other initiatives as needed.
15.Establish and maintain effective partnerships with agency staff, partner organizations, and other educational and historical institutions.
16.Adhere to established work schedule with regular attendance.
17.Follow all THC safety guidelines/procedures and ethics requirements.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
•Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Education, History, Public History, Historic Preservation or closely related field;
•Minimum two year's work experience organizing formal and informal learning experiences for K-12 learners;
•Experience creating learning materials for multiple-media delivery;
•Knowledge of state curriculum requirements and standards, including the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS);
•Experience conducting workshops and public presentations;
•Valid driver's license, including acceptable driving record and ability to drive a state vehicle; and
•Ability to travel up to 20% of the work period.
PREFER:
•Master's degree in Education, History, or Public History

REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION, OR LICENSURE:Must have or obtain a valid Driver's License and Defensive Driving Course to be able to operate state vehicles.
ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS Normal office work environment and may have exposure to dust and environmental allergens consistent with normal business activities and human contact. Mostly sedentary in nature but may involve walking; standing; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping and bending; performing tasks requiring fine motor skills and coordination; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Must be able work extended periods at a computer, and may require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed.May involve travel, occasionally overnight.
