Position Overview
A Support Engineer provides professional technical support through clear, positive communication with clients, blending technical and interpersonal skills to excel in their role. Their main objective is to support System Administrators and IT teams, ensuring smooth infrastructure operations.
Primary Responsibilities
System Installation and Configuration
- Assist in installing and configuring operating systems, software, and hardware.
- Set up and maintain user accounts, permissions, and security settings.
- Configure and install computers, printers, and other office equipment.
System Monitoring and Maintenance
- Monitor system performance, proactively troubleshooting issues.
- Perform routine maintenance, including updates, patches, and backups.
- Maintain the reliability and availability of servers, networks, and other infrastructure.
User Support
- Provide technical support for hardware and software issues.
- Manage help desk tickets, offering solutions and advice on technical matters.
- Train users on basic system functions and best practices.
Documentation
- Keep system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps accurately documented.
- Contribute to IT policy and procedure development.
- Document and analyze technical issues and user interactions.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with IT and other departments to resolve cross-functional issues.
- Support IT project planning and implementation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Education, and Experience
- Relevant experience in the field.
- Strong customer service orientation with a high level of professionalism.
- At least two years of progressive technical support experience.
- Knowledge of network protocols and services.
- Proficiency in problem-solving and communication.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems, common applications, and network basics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with travel flexibility within North Dakota and nearby areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, VMware, Citrix).
