As an Engineer I or II, you'll play a crucial role in designing and shaping water, sewer, and stormwater projects that directly impact our communities. Collaborating with agencies like the Philadelphia Water Department, you'll contribute to the development of essential systems that ensure access to clean water, efficient wastewater management, and sustainable stormwater solutions.
In this role, you'll also have the chance to work on roadway designs, creating safe and efficient transportation networks for our neighborhoods. - Support Infrastructure Capital Projects: Assist in preparing base plans for water mains, sewers, ADA ramps, and other infrastructure projects.
- Perform Data Collection: Use GPS, robotic total stations, and manual tools to gather precise field measurements.
- Prepare CAD Drawings: Create, revise, and maintain technical drawings for civil engineering and land surveying projects.
- Conduct Utility Locates: Identify and document utility lines using as-built drawings and conventional measurement tools.
- Collaborate with Agencies: Process PA One Call requests and coordinate with City agencies and utility companies.
- Ensure Compliance: Revise drawings and designs based on feedback from City agencies and project requirements.
- Perform Calculations: Calculate slopes, curb elevations, and other project elements with precision and accuracy.
- Contribute to Growth: Stay updated with industry trends through professional development and certification opportunities.
Requirements
The education requirements for an Engineering Aide at Rodriguez are as follows:
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Apprenticeship or Workforce Development Program Experience: Prior participation in an engineering or surveying apprenticeship or workforce development training program is highly valued, as it demonstrates a commitment to the field and provides a solid foundation of technical skills and knowledge.
It is important to note that a college degree is not required for these positions. Rodriguez values hands-on experience and technical training, making these roles accessible to a broad range of candidates who are passionate about engineering and surveying. Individuals who have completed the required post-high school training and have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as an engineering aide at the full performance level in their area of specialization are well-suited for these roles.
