WHO ARE WE

Halo Braid is a mission-driven startup creating the first automated hair braiding robot. By reducing braiding time from hours to minutes, we empower stylists to triple their business and address the 8 billion hours spent braiding hair each year. Our VC-backed, serial entrepreneur team brings experience from MIT, Harvard, Apple, Rivian, and Amazon Robotics.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Mechanical Engineer at Halo Braid, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering our innovative hair braider to market. You thrive in a startup or fast-paced environment, where collaboration, adaptability, and iteration are key. You're motivated, creative, and a strong problem solver that likes building high-impact solutions that real people want. In this role, you'll develop key mechanisms and prototype and test to drive product design architecture to closure. This role is a 3 month Boston-based contract position.

Requirements

Ideally you have 2+ years professional experience with:

  • 3D Solidworks CAD with best practices for part design, complex assemblies, and configurations
  • Crafting and iterating proof-of-concept models and prototypes during R&D
  • Rapid prototyping and manufacturing methods (3D printing etc)
  • Gears, motors, and mechatronic components
  • Delivering complex mechanical products to defined schedules
  • Incorporating constraints and user feedback into your design process

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • Consumer electronics
  • Hair styling tools
  • CFD and FEA analysis
  • Design with an eye for aesthetics, and manufacturability
  • Mass manufacturing methods (injection molding, CNC etc.)

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of protective hair technology, learn about consumer robotics development, and have a significant impact at a fast-growing startup.

We highly value diversity at our company and encourage applications from all backgrounds. Please apply and tell us how you can make a difference!
