Position Summary
Successful applicant will work closely as a member of our Business Development Team (consisting of Business Development Managers, Applications Engineering, and Project Management) and be responsible for developing concepts and quotations for automation solutions to meet customer needs.
This position requires the creation of supporting documentation such as 2D CAD or 3D SolidWorks drawings, cost estimations in MS Excel, and formalized written quotations in MS Word. The applicant is also required to research new products and suppliers and be available to other departments as an internal resource.
Key Responsibilities
- Interface with customers to collect project details and obtain technical clarifications
- Develop automation concepts to meet customer requirements in accordance with Xigent standards
- Create supporting concept drawings, cycle time estimates, and system descriptions in support of concepts developed
- Communicate concept and quotation details with both Xigent and customer personnel
- Develop cost estimates for concepts using internal pricing standards and external quotations obtained from third parties
- Research new products and suppliers for current and future applications
- Support other departments as an internal resource
- Some traveling is required and is usually short in duration
Desired Skills & Experience
- College degree in engineering or related field with at least 2 to 3 years of automation experience is preferred but may not be required depending upon level of experience within the automation industry
- Sound technical knowledge over a broad range of technology and manufacturing applications
- Good mechanical aptitude concerning machines and automated equipment
- Some knowledge of control systems hardware and software
- Proficiency using CAD or SolidWorks to create conceptual layout drawings
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good customer and supplier interface skills
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to learn about multiple areas within the industrial automation field
- A very strong desire to compete for and win competitively bid automation projects
