POSITION OVERVIEW:
Targa is currently seeking a Pipeline Project Engineer to join our team in the Houston Corporate office. The engineer will be accountable for the overall project execution, coordination, implementation, direction, control, and completion of assigned projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, organize, and execute multiple, simultaneous capital/expense projects with budgets typically under $10 MM
- Create and execute projects and remain flexible to meet changing needs and requirements
- Prepare cost estimates/schedules and track project performance
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope and remains accessible to customers during life of project
- Ensure projects are designed and constructed in accordance with the Company's Engineering guidelines and specifications, industry codes and standards, and regulatory requirements to meet necessary functionality and performance requirements.
- Manage project budgets and minimize exposure and risk
- Communicate project progress and significant milestones effectively and openly in a team environment
- Ensure project documents are complete and stored appropriately
- Conduct and document PHAs, MOCs, and PSSRs for all projects prior to startup
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education Required: BS Engineering
- Experience Required: Minimum of 2+ years of industry related experience as a Project Engineer or similar role
- Experience Preferred: 5+ years of field experience working within the Oil & Gas or Hydrocarbon Processing industries
- Provides active coaching and mentoring to Project Engineers and/or Coordinators assigned to him/her. Takes an ACTIVE role in developing their skills and progressing them professionally.
- Be detail focused, organized, self-motivated and customer focused
- Organizes and develops highly functional and effective project teams.
- Works to instill a sense of project ownership and accountability in the project team.
- Identifies opportunities for team member improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.
- Coordinates and works with other departments (Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Finance and Accounting) to ensure the timely delivery of quality goods and services which meet or exceed our customer's expectations.
- Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.
- Deep knowledge of DOT 192 and 195 regulations
- Comfortable providing feedback to team members
- Regular and reliable attendance
