Job Summary:

The position at the Structural Engineer/ Project Manager level entails work including initiation, oversight and design of building structural components from foundation to roof framing on buildings ranging from single-story residential projects to high-rise commercial and residential projects. Lso entails the evaluation of existing condition, the design of structural repair and envelope of protection systems, the management of bidding and construction processes, field observation/verification of work in process, and close client and contractor interaction. Building materials include reinforced concrete, masonry, structural steel, light gauge steel, wood, aluminum, fiberglass, and others from time-to-time. Review of shop drawings and construction field observations and inspections will also be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Produce design information for drawings.

2. Prepare specifications and engineering reports.

3. Manage simple to complex projects from start to finish.

4. Oversee, review, sign and seal drawings, reports and specifications.

5. Assign work to and manage production of Project Engineers and Drafter as required.

6. Meet required and promised project deadlines.

7. Assure timely and profitable completion of projects.

8. Interact with clients.

9. Develop proposals for new projects.

10. Review time entries and generate invoices.

11. Initiate, manage, oversee and take responsibility for design projects.

12. Analyze engineering design problems.

13. Confer with engineering, technical, or manufacturing personnel.

14. Read blueprints and technical drawings.

15. Use computer-aided drafting or design software for design, drafting, modeling, or other engineering tasks.

16. Use intuitive judgment for engineering analyses.

17. Ensure conformance to building regulations.

18. Evaluate construction quality.

19. Inspect project operations or site to determine specification compliance.

20. Interpret property for construction, condition or design.

21. Interpret maps for architecture, construction or engineering project.

22. Recognize construction industry codes or symbols on blueprints.

23. Understand construction specifications.

24. Understand engineering data or reports.

25. Use drafting or mechanical drawing techniques.

26. Use field notes in technical drawings.

27. Create mathematical or statistical diagrams or charts.

28. Draw maps or charts.

29. Adhere to safety procedures.

30. Other duties as assigned.
