Summary

The Trauma Manager, under the general direction of Director Ambulatory Services , in collaboration with the Medical Director of Emergency Services, the Medical Director of Surgical Services and in accordance with the National and State regulatory agency standards and guidelines regarding Trauma Care, performs the following functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

+ Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.

+ Acts as Chairperson of the Trauma Care Committee.

+ Reviews and up-dates the Manuals, and other Policies/Procedures that relate to the care of the trauma patient.

+ Actively follows up with Trauma Team Activations, and Trauma Alerts

+ Follows up with patient and family for duration of in-hospital admission assuring education and discharge needs are met.

+ Actively participates on the Trauma Care Committee including, but not limited to, preparing and presenting the Quarterly Statistical and Annual Reports.

+ Works collaboratively with the staff, providers, pre-hospital practitioners and other Hospital or regulatory agencies to develop and maintain high caliber trauma care for residents and visitors to the Greater Nashua Community.

+ To perform chart reviews on all Trauma Team Activations and Trauma Alerts for the purpose of completeness, compliance with current treatment modalities and data collection.

+ Oversees the data entered into the Trauma Registry.

+ Works collaboratively with Quality and Resource Management to assure that a continuous performance improvement program is instituted and maintained through the Trauma Care Committee. Provides semi-annual educational sessions for ED nursing and provider staff.

+ Assist in the development and delivery of pre-hospital educational sessions with regard to the treatment of the trauma patient.

+ Other duties as consistent with this role.

Job Requirements

Job Knowledge and Skills

+ Knowledge of State Standards and National Guidelines as it pertains to Trauma Care preferred.

Education and Experience

+ Current NH license required.

+ Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification required.

+ Certified Advanced Trauma Nurse (CATN) preferred.

+ Graduate from an approved School of Nursing preferred.

+ Bachelors degree preferred.

+ 2 or more years of clinical experience in an emergency department with demonstrated ability in trauma care preferred.

+ Membership in professional organization preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
