The Capital Projects department is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of city facilities, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the city's infrastructure.What you'll be doing:Lead and coordinate daily work activities of assigned co-workers. Perform complex technical work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of City buildings, facilities, and/or parks. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards. Conduct maintenance inspections to identify potential problems, unsafe conditions, and needed repairs. Reading and understanding blueprints, schematics and technical drawings provide cost and labor estimates. Perform general building maintenance and repair tasks, including flooring, ceiling tiles, fixtures, roofing, gutters, windows, concrete work, and sheetrock. Execute carpentry tasks, including installing and repairing cabinets, workstations, doors, windows, and custom woodwork. Manage and maintain multiple COA key systems, including rekeying and upgrading systems as needed and issuing and tracking keys using the current key request system. Will be responsible for managing the current key management software systemAbility and willingness to assist other trades as needed.Operate and maintain various equipment, tools, and supplies necessary for completing essential functions. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or educationwill be considered:At least seven years of experience in construction, maintenance, and repair of buildings, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.Valid driver's license.Valid licensure as a locksmith in the State of North Carolina.Associate degree in Construction, Facilities Maintenance, or a related field.Persons of all genders and races are encouraged to apply.Other things to know:Work Schedule:Full-time position 40 hours/week.
