Our work depends on Linux Systems Engineer joining our team to maintain and develop a range of solutions supporting our customer's Office of Cyber Security (OCS) Cyber Systems Division (CSD).
HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to operate a 24x7x365 uptime service
- Engineer systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
- Maintain best practices for managing systems and services across all environments
- Perform fault-finding, analysis, and logging of information for reporting of performance exceptions
- Proactively monitor system performance and capacity planning
- Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes on servers and workstations
- Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks
- Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
- Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar relevant degree
- Experience: 10+ years of experience with Linux systems
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu, etc.
- Security Clearance Level: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Skills and Abilities:
- Experienced with Active Directory Integration
- Shell, Bash, and/or Python scripting
- Linux security hardening; and protocols such as SSH, SFTP, DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP
- VMware architecture and configuration, VM spinups and patching
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Preferred Skills: Familiarity with Trellix, Splunk, NetApp, and/or NAS
- Location: Herndon, VA on customer site
- US Citizenship Required

The likely salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
