Job Summary:
The Gearbox Pump Mechanic Apprentice is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on training and experience in the repair, maintenance, and servicing of gearbox pumps and related systems. Under the guidance of experienced mechanics, the trainee will learn the skills necessary to become a proficient gearbox pump mechanic, including troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of pumps and gearboxes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in a structured training program to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in gearbox pump mechanics.
- Learn and apply safe work practices, technical procedures, and industry standards under the supervision of experienced mechanics.
- Assist in the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of gearbox pumps and associated components.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, and minor adjustments, to ensure optimal performance of pumps and gearboxes.
- Learn to diagnose mechanical issues and malfunctions in gearbox pumps through observation and guided practice.
- Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.
- Review and follow technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins to ensure correct procedures are followed.
- Operate and maintain various hand and power tools, including wrenches, impact drivers, and diagnostic equipment.
- Learn proper techniques for using specialized tools and machinery used in gearbox pump repair.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
- Report any unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors and follow instructions for addressing them.
- Work closely with experienced mechanics and other team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments as needed.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- No prior experience required; however, a basic understanding of mechanical systems and components is beneficial.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in learning about gearbox pumps and related systems.
- Ability to follow instructions and work well under supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.
Work Location and Travel:
- The main office is located at 1400 Chamber Drive, Bartow, FL 33830.
- Days and hours of work may vary at times to include some evenings and weekends.
Work Environment:
- Work is typically performed in workshops, manufacturing facilities, or industrial settings.
- Exposure to noise, mechanical hazards, and varying environmental conditions.
