Job Description:
The hardware engineering position at Broadcom focuses on design of printed circuit board assemblies used in commercial grade server and cloud system applications. The engineer provides technical leadership that integrates requirements, capabilities, and functionality from customers, industry standards, electronic components, contract manufacturers, and internal quality systems. The candidate should have strong working knowledge of the major computer industry standards such as PCIe Express, Ethernet, and Fibre Channel with an emphasis on high speed signal routing. This position requires full-time on-site attendance in an open office and lab working environment.
Core Duties and Deliverables
- Perform comprehensive analysis of marketing, industry and customer requirements
- Interface with ASIC controller designers, program management, component vendors and manufacturing to fully comprehend and implement the design
- Design schematics including selection of digital logic, power, clocking, PSOC, memory, IO, visual indicators, and connectors
- Coordinate system level design and simulation including thermal and mechanical elements
- Coordinate and direct the PCB layout including written specifications, impedance calculations and stack up, initial placement, material selection, and tool verification
- Oversee and/or perform signal integrity simulation for functional interfaces and power
- Develop scripts in tools such as Python to streamline, automate, and minimize defects in the design process
- Build test fixtures including instrumenting with data acquisition systems and programming
- Perform unit and system testing of prototype designs utilizing high speed scopes, TDR and/or VNA equipment
- Provide post production product support including manufacturing database updating and maintenance

Tools, Equipment and Experience
- Mastery of Cadence Design and Layout Tool Suite
- Simulation: HyperLynx 8.0, Ansoft SIWave and Ansys HFSS, ADS, Sigrity, Polar.
- MSOffice tool suite
- Equipment: Servers (Windows / Linux), scopes, traffic generators, environmental chambers, ESD guns, VNA, TDR, power loads, soldering (RoHS)
- BSc. and a minimum 5 years of experience in a computer related job role; OR MSc. in Electrical Engineering with a minimum 3 years of experience in a computer related job role

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $91,000 - $146,000.
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
