Job Description
The primary focus of the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist is to support the organization with compliance in the area of responsibility including but not limited to Safety Management System (SMS) and environmental compliance. The position will be based at the Rosenberg, TX manufacturing plant and will be responsible for supporting all locationsin Texas. The HSE Specialist will ensure facilities meet or exceed internal and external Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, and strive for continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has acquired the skills necessary for basic HSE understanding. The candidate will be an integral member of the local Operations Team, and will utilize their experience and personal character to embody the key behaviors of the WireCo Business System. The candidate will Unleash their Talent through targeted development opportunities, 1 on 1 coaching, and continued training.
The candidate will ensure that key direction and decisions are rooted in our most basic operational demand, that Data is the Source of Truth. The candidate will promote the WireCo Business System throughout the company locations and support the HSE tasks associated with reaching our goal of becoming World Class in HSE.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate as a key Stakeholder of the HSE program
- Run the Business by tracking and reporting monthly KPIs and, coordinate casualty case management for the sites (workers compensation).Ensure compliance with internal and external requirements (OHSA, EPA, DNR, TCEQ, etc.).
- Improve the Business by delivering HSE training in compliance with HSE guidelines.Lead the Safety Committee in their efforts to cultivate a more safety conscious workforce and work environment. Drive continuous improvement of safety processes and management system. Lead investigations and root cause analysis of incidents by implementing lean problem-solving methodologies.
- Ensure safety observations, injuries, and near-miss incidents are properly documented, recorded, and entered into the HSE Management System for future analysis and action.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Enforce safety policies and lead initiatives aimed at achieving an injury-free workplace, fostering a culture of safety throughout the facilities.
- Maintain compliance schedules for the facilities.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize or eliminate hazards.
- Serve as the first point of contact between the organization and regulatory agencies, ensuring clear communication and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Manage HSE programs, such as HWP, SWPPP, SPCC, ERP, among others
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent degree required
- 1-2yearsof HSE experience
- Ability to work simultaneously on several projects
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Ability to motivate, speak, train, and interact at different levels of the organization
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel)
- Basic HSE understanding
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Continual learning of HSE Elements
- Exhibits positivity, passion, integrity and responsibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree
- 1-3+ years of HSE experience, in a manufacturing environment (or other relevant manufacturing experience)
- 1-2 years of manufacturing experience
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
- Demonstrated experience interpreting, applying, and complying with regulatory requirements
- Associate Safety Practitioner (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) highly desired or a willingness to continue education
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Experience with HSE management Systems
- Experience in matrix organizational structure is highly desired
- Six Sigma/ Lean problem-solving certifications are highly desired

- Will receive or have training in HSE leadership
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Combination office/production floor environment
- Will work at different manufacturing/distribution locations within the region
- Standing/walking on concrete floors for up to 8 hours
- Pushing/pulling, lifting to 50 lbs.
Materials and Equipment Directly Used
- Standard office equipment including computer, mouse, keyboard, telephone, multifunction copier
- Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- An applicant must complete a satisfactory background check post-offer of employment. A criminal conviction will not be an automatic bar to employment.
- Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen and physical (if required)
