SUMMARY

The Software Developer will form the architectural basis upon which our platform evolves and will be responsible for reviewing new products on the market both within our current platform and beyond. The ideal candidate should showcase a strong bias towards action, possess extreme ownership, and exhibit sharp technical competence. Additionally, excellent stakeholder management and decision-making skills are essential for success in this role. The position plays a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement, with a focus on enhancing tools, processes, scalability, and maturity.

This newly created role will be an engineering contributor for designing, developing, and maintaining the company's data platform, which integrates data across the organization and is used for quarterly external reporting, forecasting company earnings, and internal analytics. The role will also be responsible for working with the team to build new functionality on the data platform - in particular, providing technical leadership for building scalable, cloud-native web applications to support multiple groups including the Capital Markets, FP&A, Asset Management, and Data Science teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and maintain large cloud-native web platforms using React.js, Express.js, AWS, Mulesoft, and Snowflake.
  • Work with business stakeholders across digital marketing, asset management, finance, and accounting teams to understand the business and build scalable solutions.
  • Work across the entire "tech stack", including designing and developing user interfaces in Figma and React, along with backend development in Node.js, AWS, and Snowflake.
  • Design and develop modern integrations (ETL pipelines) that meet user needs regarding functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Working with the engineering and analytics teams on creating data models for analytics and reporting in Power BI and other tools and frameworks.
  • Design and develop solutions able to process large volumes of data.
  • Participate and contribute to architectural discussions across the front-end, back-end, and database of applications.
  • Perform Continuous Integration and deployment using AWS and GitLab.
  • Champion best practices and cross-functional skill development.
  • Drive department best practices, guidelines implementation and adhering to standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is generally performed within a climate-controlled, shared office environment. Position requires prolonged use of a computer, telephone, and other office equipment while either sitting or standing. Frequent interaction with coworkers and external parties/partners is required. All associates must be able to communicate face-to-face, on the telephone or via a video conference. Employee may be exposed to noise from basic office equipment operation and coworker communication.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, IT or equivalent.
  • Experience working with large financial systems such as OneStream, Hyperion, Yardi, SAP, Oracle, etc.
  • Experience building solutions and modeling data to support business analytics and reporting.
  • 2-3 years of full-stack software engineering experience.
  • 2+ experience in Agile software development practices.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Next.js, Node.js, Express.js on the backend, and React.js on the front-end.
  • 2+ years of experience in AWS including S3, EC2, Lambda, SNS and SQS
  • Experience building enterprise applications to support FP&A, capital markets, and/or accounting functions within real estate, financial services, banking, private equity, or a related industry.
  • Ability to express sophisticated technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong experience with SQL, relational databases, and data warehousing.
  • Experience of containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Experience with setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience designing and collaborating on UI designs using Figma.
  • Experience tackling scaling issues.
  • Experience developing on an iPaaS system (MuleSoft preferred).
  • Snowflake DB is preferred.
  • Experience with Kubernetes is preferred.
  • Experience with data analytics in Power BI is preferred.
