Job Description
The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for operating, maintaining, and performing repairs on assigned HVAC and Refrigeration equipment and controls, chilled water systems, boilers, and various other mechanical, electrical and building systems in such manner as to eliminate system downtime and ensure optimal client relations.

401(k) – You become eligible to make personal contributions beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment. You become eligible for the ABM match beginning the first of the month following six months of employment. ABM matches your pre-tax and/or Roth contributions, dollar for dollar, for the first 3%. For the next 2%, ABM contributes $0.50 for each dollar you contribute. Your contributions and match are immediately vested.
Pay: $36-40/hour
The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
Schedule: 7am-3:30pm M-F
Essential Functions
- Ability to troubleshoot, calibrate and adjust pilots, thermostats and burners, controls, relays, heaters and elements.
- Ability to use the tools of the trade (e.g. multimeter, refrigerant gauges, charging charts, hand tools etc.)
Responsibilities
- Installs, maintains and repairs ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment
- Identifies maintenance risks on equipment
- Diagnoses electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems
- Cleans, adjusts and repairs systems, and performs periodic maintenance
- Performs emergency repairs promptly and efficiently during normal work hours
- Provides technical direction and on-the-job training
- Keeps daily logs and records of all maintenance functions
- Ensures compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Complies with service standards, work instructions and customers' requirements
- Assists with customers' queries
- Completes other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 3+ years' experience as an HVAC technician in a commercial or industrial setting, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.
- Refrigeration/HVAC certification required.
- High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent
- Willingness to Work at Various Heights: The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in elevated environments. This includes tasks that may require being at different heights for extended periods.
- Ladder Climbing: Regular climbing of ladders is a critical part of this position. The candidate must be capable of safely ascending and descending ladders of various sizes and types.
- Utilizing Various Lifts: Proficiency in operating a range of lifts is essential. This involves maneuvering scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other mechanical devices to reach higher areas.
