The mission:
The US Service EHS Director, reporting to the VP of Service Excellence, leads a growing team of safety professionals to support site safety in services, solutions businesses, and customer operations. The role involves building a culture of safety within US Services and adjacent businesses, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices, and minimizing risks through positive safety behaviors. The EHS Director works with applicable business leaders to bring a unified approach to safety requirements for deployment teams, seeking continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices.
Summary of Job:
- Provide safety and environmental leadership and technical expertise to the electrical services organization and employees in the US Services Division
- Drive consistent employee engagement and collaboration, safety culture improvement, and full compliance with all Schneider Electric policies, directives and mandates.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with national, state, provincial and local regulations. Interact with regulatory agencies (eg OSHA), as appropriate.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve strategies and tactics to prevent injuries and incidents. Oversee the incident/accident investigation process, including root cause analysis and corrective actions completion.
- Provide technical input on safety and environmental aspects of customer bids; respond to customer prequalification inquiries and requests for information. Review and maintain third party contractor and subcontractor prequalification programs. Ensure compliance with customer EHS requirements.
- Work with site (local and on field) management teams to advise, plan and implement actions to improve working environment and people wellbeing on sites.
- Conduct risk assessments and field safety audits; participate in external compliance audits and customer audits.
- Monitor appropriate leading/lagging metrics, evaluate data trending, and provide data input to management reviews, with a view to continuous improvement and enhancement of safety performance.
- Develop and deliver training programs to comply with regulatory and internal Schneider Electric requirements, especially involving electrical safety and contractor safety, in order to prepare employees and subcontractors to work in a safe and compliant manner.
- Lead, manage and develop a team of regional safety and environment managers to ensure internal customer and business needs are met.
- Lead and participate in environmental sustainability programs, such as energy, water and waste reduction programs, for services locations.
This job might be for you if:
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive safety & environmental experience is required, including demonstrated leadership and managing teams of safety professionals
- Proven experience in leading safety programs in the electrical, construction, utility and/or field services industries is required.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, electrical hazard assessment (including unsafe electrical work practices and conditions), electrical regulation for low and high voltage work and development of work practices in this regard is required. Knowledge of codes and standards related to electrical safety and associated services activities is desired. Construction safety management experience is also desired.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E requirements, including electrical safe work practices. Ability to determine electrical PPE requirements (shock and arc flash) up to 600 VAC/40 cal. Ability to audit compliance and provide guidance with OSHA LOTO, OSHA Electrical Safety, and NFPA 70E requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental engineering, industrial safety management, electrical engineering or related field. Post graduate degree in safety or related field (engineering or sciences) is strongly desired.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent is strongly desired.
- Ability to motivate and influence others (including managers/supervisors) to achieve safety & environmental objectives is important.
- Highly motivated, energetic, self-directed individual with good analytical and problem-solving skills. Willingness to take ownership of issues and win buy-in of others.
- 25-30% travel in the US
