Commensurate with salary range on the DCPS Salary Schedule for CERTIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE
Hours Per Day: 7.0

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
•Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
•Strong presentation and communication skills
•Evidence of successful teamwork and collaboration
Knowledge Of:
•Basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer, e-mail, and websites.
•Knowledge and demonstration of sound instructional practices.
•Short and long-range planning techniques applicable to area of specialty.
•Record-keeping techniques.
•Communication skills.
•Research methods and report writing techniques.
•Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
•Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
•Principles of training and providing work direction.
•Technical aspects of field of specialty.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Support instruction of certified staff to increase the overall quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
•Maintain current knowledge of technical advances in the field.
•Maintain communication and work closely with district staff and local school staff and the regarding information, developments and implementation of project, program or activity.
•Prepare and assist in preparation of reports, records and other documentation as required.
•Prepare and deliver presentations as required.
•Accumulate and research data, documents and other pertinent information as required.
•Assure compliance with federal, state and district policy, administrative procedures and negotiated agreements as applicable to assignment.
•Maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements and restrictions.
•Prepare, deliver or assist with training opportunities as appropriate.
•Prioritize, plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines
•Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
•Protect confidential information.
Instructional Support
•Increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction
o Model and co-teach lessons in the classroom
o Identify instructional strengths and coach individual teachers to refine, extend, and improve their professional practice
o Research and implement the most current educational methods
o Expand teachers' use of a variety of resources to improve instruction
o Support and assess the levels of implementation of various instructional programs
•Support differentiated instruction for all students
o Collaborate with teachers in designing units to positively impact planning and preparation for instruction with a focus on strategizing and monitoring student learning
o Facilitate and support remediation and enrichment in the classroom
o Collaborate with teachers to provide quality instruction that supports college/career readiness
Leadership Development
•Work collaboratively with the school's leadership team to design, implement, and assess school/district change initiatives
•Collaborate with the school leadership team to establish a school culture of trust resulting in a positive view of coaching and as a means of improving instruction
•Cultivate a culture that supports innovation
•Assist in the school improvement planning process
•Organize and document work monthly
•Participate in ongoing personal professional learning experiences
•Identify and support the development of teacher leaders through professional growth opportunities
School Improvement
•Model continuous learning serving as the thought leader in the school
•Ensure that student achievement data drives instructional decisions at the classroom and school level
•Assist the school leadership team in the disaggregation of student performance data
•Facilitate analysis of student work with teachers focusing on assessment for learning
•Design, facilitate, support and assess job embedded professional learning
