About the Role
The Sr. Operations Manager will be responsible for all aspects of plant operations for market segment(s) across multiple plants. The scope of operations includes human safety, engineering, food safety, quality assurance, inventory management and control, project management, maintenance, budgeting & forecasting and talent development. The Sr. Operations Manager assists with the development of business segment strategy and leads the execution of that strategy across the operations platform. They are responsible for driving plant efficiencies, managing costs and creating a culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the entire production system. This scope of work will be accomplished via the direct supervision of plant managers and the development and implementation of policies, procedures, key performance indicators and best management practices at all production facilities and receiving stations. The Sr. Operations Manager must develop strong and productive relationships with other team members and critical Partners (Human Resources, Finance/Accounting/Control, Information Technology, Legal, Brand Marketing, Human Safety, Food Safety and Quality) across the company.
This position can be located in any of the following locations: Minneapolis, MN; Omaha, NE; Overland Park, KS; Jerome, ID; Warrenton, OR; or Lake City, FL.

Constantly monitor industry trends in automation, packaging, robotics, quality, etc. to ensure a market leading position for the market segment.
Partner with Operations Director to provide input on strategic plans to maintain facility in industry-competitive performance capability through preventive maintenance programs and capital improvement strategies.
Work with facility teams to develop and implement inventory management and control procedures and best practices with a focus on quality, customer satisfaction and minimizing shrink/loss. Evaluate actual inventory management performance to forecast/target/plan/history.
Continuously be engaged with and lead the production teams to improve operational efficiencies, handling/inventory efficiencies, increase throughput and lower production costs while maintaining quality.
Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the entire scope of plant operations. Incorporate KPIs into the performance management plans of employees, at all levels of the operation, to create accountability and foster a continuous improvement mindset. Evaluate production performance, including safety, cost, volume, quality, and other critical factors, against forecast/target/plan/history.
Lead the development of plant budgets and capital expenditure forecasts based on business segment strategy and evaluate performance against budget/forecast/plan/history.
Oversee the employees and the plants with exceptional standards for safety for employees, customers, vendors and business partners who may visit the facility.
Ensure facility, products and equipment are safe, well maintained, of the appropriate quality and all certifications, permits and inspections are current and compliant. Responsible for plant safety programs and training.
Manage all aspects of the physical assets, ensure that all government regulations are met and Scoular policies and procedures are adhered to.
Work closely with the team to build a seamless food safety and quality paradigm that meets, or exceeds, customer expectations and maintains, or enhances, our competitive position in the market.
Lead plant managers in creating a culture of safety and continuous improvement by building engaged and empowered production teams. Production teams should be active and creative problem solvers that continuously seek the best option or solution for the business.
Accountable for operational management and team development.
Manage multiple Plants and work with Business Partner teams to lead and execute all people management functions of team (recruiting, training, development and workflow management).
Engage and inspire teams through inclusive leadership, making Scoular a great place to work.
Identify and participate in collaboration opportunities between businesses within the Division and across Divisions.
Ensure organizational agility to navigate unprecedented change.
About You
4-year college degree in construction/agriculture/project management related area of study, or equivalent experience.
3 years prior supervisory experience.
5+ years experience and knowledge of processing operations and product flow.
Advanced knowledge of blend and mix process.
Strong customer service orientation and community relations experience.
Detail oriented while working in a fast paced environment.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to travel 60%.
Preferred
Experience with Feed and Food manufacturing and facility operations.
Experience with USDA and FDA audits.
Experience with ERP systems and data analytics.
