What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $70,765 - $116,762 /annually, based on education and experience. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which includes but is not limited to:

Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
What You'll Do
The Department of Finance manages the city's investing, fiscal analysis, budgeting, debt and asset management, tax assessment and collection, and accounting functions as well as establishing, maintaining, and enforcing fiscal policies, practices and procedures for the entire City and County of Denver. The Department commits to Denver residents the delivery of these services through a financial structure that mirrors the best practices of both the public and private sectors. This commitment promotes better service, enhanced performance measures, maximum accountability, and improved business processes.
The Department of Finance is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to serve as the Senior Grants Analyst. In this role, you will be tasked with administering and managing the City's Grants Program via processes in Workday.
As a Senior Grants Analyst, you will:
- Review and approve transactions processed by agencies, including the initial establishment and subsequent amendments of awards.
- Troubleshoot grant errors, issue, and bottleneck with agencies, whether related to Workday or more generally related to grant administration and revises job aids as needed.
- Participate in the administration of the American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funds and liaisons with grant compliance consultants. Pull reports on grant activity as requested by management, the press, or elected officials.
- Work with members of the Department of Finance, the Controller's Office, General Services, and others on coordinating action around new city-wide grant processes.
- Maintain the DenverHub Grant Resources page and Grants Dashboard. Maintains the Grant Policy Advisory Committee Microsoft Teams page. Conducts virtual trainings for city personal explaining grant processes in Workday.
- Review fiscal accountability rules related to Grants Management and work with the Controller's Office and the City Attorney's Office to update as needed. Participate in and occasionally lead monthly Grant Policy Advisory Committee meetings.
- Serve as the principal lead for the City's grant-search software and liaisons with grant writing consultants. Support management and administration of grant consultants and contractors. Develop detailed training materials explaining grant processes in Workday and coordinates announcements.
- Develop training guides and materials for navigating SAM.Gov and Grants.Gov. Attend webinars on federal uniform guidance and distributes notes and material to key grant personnel with observations and recommended action steps. Respond to audit requests as directed, including collecting documentation.

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
- Experience with Workday Financials
- Experience with administering day-to-day financial aspects of federal grant programs
- Interest in working with grants and grants management
- Comfort with explaining technical processes and concepts to financial and non-financial audiences
- Experience developing training materials
- Aptitude for process and performance improvement; ability to see defects and eliminate waste from an existing process
- Ability to drive projects through to completion and rally others to deliver their assignments on-time
- Ability to adjust quickly to rapidly changing work priorities
- Some accounting experience is a plus, not required
- Strong customer service orientation
- Team-first approach
Minimum Qualifications
- Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional level experience researching, analyzing, calculating, and compiling financial data, debt or portfolio administration, or financial statistical analysis.
- Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements.
