Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced or Senior level Structural Analysis Engineer to join the BGS team located in Long Beach, CA .
This is an exciting and uncommon opportunity to work on the C-17 Globemaster III, a large military transport aircraft. In support of the Aircraft Structural Integrity Program, we are looking for motivated individuals to join our diverse and dedicated engineering team.
Position Responsibilities:
Work with other C-17 Stress Analysts to become familiar with C-17 Tools, Processes, and Documentation requirements.
Analyze repairs and modifications to the C-17 aircraft utilizing FEM and other computer and hand methods.
Perform structural strength analysis using classical and computer-aided techniques.
Document and publish/release structural designs and analysis results.
Evaluate complex vehicles and systems from multiple perspectives.
Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations.
Support in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
Work towards eligibility for C-17 Delegated Engineering Authority.
Supervise and train early-career team members.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering classification.
3+ years’ experience with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
3+ years’ experience with finite element modeling structural analysis methods and tools.
3+ years’ experience in structural analysis.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience independently constructing, executing, reviewing, and managing structural finite element models.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
9+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education.
1+ years’ experience working with structural sizing and finite element models/simulations using NASTRAN/PATRAN, ABAQUS, Hypermesh, Optistruct, etc.
Typical Education & Experience:
Experienced Level (3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Senior Level (4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Relocation: Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense (Long Beach, CA).
