Occupational Summary
Classification established to provide a formal Clinical Research internship opportunity for recent college/university graduates. Using a multidisciplinary model, incumbents are assigned responsibilities designed to provide exposure to and gain an overall understanding of the lifecycle of a clinical research project. The internship will generally involve a combination of learning and research support activities under the mentorship of a Principal Investigator (PI). Incumbents will receive regular and ongoing feedback from the mentor and are expected to produce a publication based on their learning experience. The maximum duration of the internship is 2 years.
The research examines how traumatic stress and socioenvironmental inequities influence the development of stress and trauma-related disorders. The lab uses techniques such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), ecological momentary assessments, geospatial analyses, and (epi)genetic methods. We are particularly interested in how interactions between socioenvironmental factors, neurobiology, and individual characteristics help predict PTSD following a recent traumatic event."
Work Performed
Collect experimental data for research protocols, including working with research subjects, running experimental procedures, and transferring data for non-complex studies outside of the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Assist with the following:
Maintain study-specific equipment and processing of research sample
Analysis of data with oversight from PI and study statisticians
Design and programming of research experiments
Preparation of grant, conference abstract, and manuscripts
Review of journals, abstracts and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments in the field of study,
Attend department wide research meetings/training sessions for Interns.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training: W Work requires an Associate degree. A Bachelor degree may substitute for this degree and 2 years of experience.
