Trading Support Engineer

Position Summary:
The Trading Support Engineer is responsible for providing essential technical support to traders on the front office desk of an investment bank based in Midtown NYC. This role requires expertise in financial products, particularly equity derivatives or fixed income, with over 5 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of critical applications such as Bloomberg, Fidessa, and various Order Management Systems (OMS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily real-time support to traders on Bloomberg, Fidessa, and other OMS platforms, swiftly resolving technical issues and optimizing configurations.
- Collaborate closely with development teams and external service providers to resolve complex issues and enhance system stability.
- Participate in the implementation of new features and manage software upgrades to ensure optimal system performance.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate support tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Offer technical expertise during the integration of new products or systems, ensuring end-user training when necessary.
- Contribute to documentation of operational procedures and best practices to ensure regulatory compliance and information security.
Required Skills:
- Over 5 years of experience in a similar role within an investment bank or financial institution.
- Relevant experiences supporting operations within trading desk
- Deep expertise in financial products, specializing in equity derivatives or fixed income.
- Proficiency with front office applications like Bloomberg, Fidessa, and various OMS.
- Strong problem-solving skills and incident management abilities, with a demonstrated ability to perform under pressure.
- Practical knowledge of Python for script development, task automation, and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact with traders, developers, and external vendors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Certification or relevant training in financial technologies or trading operations support is a plus.
- Strong team player with a commitment to maintaining high standards of customer service and quality.
