Our client is a digital service provider that advises, manages, and integrates the complexity of the international digital transition, freeing their customers to focus on the strategic initiatives that drive their business. They have extensive experience and knowledge in digitalization, global communication solutions, cyber security, cloud, and data management.
This is a 3- to 6-month contract with the possibility of getting extended.
Location: Anywhere in the Contiguous United States but there's a preference for candidates on the East Coast, as the job involves visiting clients in that part of the country.
The role:
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced OT LAN Technical Architect to join their dynamic team and help them maintain and enhance their technological infrastructure.
The OT LAN Technical Architect is responsible for providing operational technology leadership and establishing best practices in designing and implementing OT LAN solutions.
This role involves acting as a solutions and architecture consultant, developing robust, scalable, and secure OT LAN topologies and architectures, including WLAN, specifically tailored for industrial environments. The architect will lead hardware and software refreshes for OT LAN environments and ensure seamless integration within the co-management framework with factory settings. The architect will provide expert advice and recommendations to optimize network performance and align with organizational goals.
Position Summary:
With an engineering background in IT & telecommunications technologies, you have at least 8 years of experience in OT with an integrator or a manufacturer. You have solid experience in IT/OT, LAN, and WLAN domains. You like to explore subjects in depth and share your expertise and knowledge with your colleagues. You are familiar with Cisco in the LAN/WLAN industrial product lines – Belden/Hirschmann experience would be a plus. You also have one or more corresponding certifications.
Requirements:
In-depth knowledge of industrial environments (automation, PLC, SCADA, etc.) and protocols used in industry (MRP, REP, PRP, HSR, DLR)
Experience in Industrial Networks (Hirschmann, Siemens, Schneider Electric)
Experience in Operational Management is a plus
Knowledge of assessments/audit methodologies
Knowledge of OT cybersecurity, NIS 1/NIS 2 regulations and any other out-of-EU best practices
Notion of IEC62443 standard
Knowledge of Wireless (Wi-Fi/5G) implementations in a production environment is a plus
SD-Access experience preferred but not required
Passionate about Industrial Edge Networking, Industry 4.0, and Smart Manufacturing, with excellent interpersonal and writing skills, and the ability to work in multi-project, multi-client, multicultural environments.
Key Responsibilities:
The position is mainly oriented towards Industrial Networks (OT LAN) expertise on OT / production projects. The individual will be the trusted advisor for clients on engineering and technical solutions, as well as their satisfaction.
Support the technical roadmap of the business unit by continuously evolving the offer in your domain
Evangelize the offer to both the (pre-)sales teams and (executive) management
Train and assist the required teams on our offer which you spearpoint
Carry out consulting engagement (Feasibility studies, OT Assessments/Audits, Industrial Network topologies) towards our customers
Supervise and coordinate, when needed, a production team to execute and deliver on the Industrial Networks proposals (Internally or/and partners)
Carry out engineering services (definition of specifications, process implementation, project deliverables, lab testing etc.)
Assist the Pre-Sales teams to translate customer requirements into technical solutions and evaluate associated costs
Integrate IT solutions into OT clients’ environments (Design, equipment configuration, migrations, operational management model, etc.)
Provide training on the solutions deployed to our clients
Support the IT/OT Project Managers during the implementation phase, by being the technical leadership and validations
Support Operational teams during testing and troubleshooting phases.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Technical Architect or similar role, with a focus on OT LAN environments in industrial settings.
5 years of industrial context experience, including industrial processes, IIoT, and OT cybersecurity.
Extensive knowledge of Cisco technologies, including LAN, WLAN, and network security.
Demonstrated experience in providing operational technology leadership and consulting in network solutions and architecture.
Experience with hardware and software refresh projects in OT environments, especially within industrial contexts.
Strong understanding of co-management frameworks and integration with factory operations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) are highly desirable.

Travel 20% of your time and/or work during special hours (evenings, nights, or weekends) when implementation constraints require it.

Short-term independent contractor agreement, with the possibility of extending it long-term (1099). We are not able to hire you via C2C, unless you are the sole proprietor of your company.
