The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end-to-end development for Disney’s world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products & experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. The team drives innovation at scale for millions of consumers around the world across Apple, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and the web, with our platforms powering core experiences like personalization, search, messaging and data.

As a Software Engineer you will focus on building experiences for our core streaming products, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on the client. You’ll work with a team of other developers alongside systems engineers, service engineers, and project managers. Our team uses modern server-side and web technologies such as JavaScript, Node and React to deliver scalable and elegant solutions for new product features and core site architecture.

Responsibilities:
Develop core site functionality using server-side templating and JavaScript
Resolve bugs and clear roadblocks as they occur
Implement best practices to continually increase performance and scalability
Support team members by reviewing code and pull requests
Work with engineering peers, product, and project management to refine specs and timelines
Partner with other engineering teams to deliver best solutions
Collaborate with story tellers and designers across our brands
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years relevant industry experience
BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent
Proven understanding of front-end web development technologies and principles
Comprehensive knowledge of JavaScript, React.JS, and server-side templating
Experience with task automation (WebPack, Grunt, Gulp) and CSS Preprocessors (Less, Sass)
Demonstrated ability to research solutions to complex problems
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Driven and self-motivated

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, California is $112,600 - $151,000 per year, and in Seattle, Washington and New York City is $118,000 - $158,200 per year and in San Francisco, California is $123,400 - $165,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
