OPPORTUNITY
The Curriculum Specialist in Spanish will support teachers in the implementation of the Green Dot Spanish Program at multiple high schools.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
> Provide teachers with instructional coaching and support to implement grade level CCSS and CA World Language Framework-aligned instruction to ALL students, including English Learners, Standard English Learners, Gifted and Talented Students, and Students with Disabilities.
> Promote standards-based instruction by providing demonstration lessons, focused observations, and professional development on research-based instructional strategies and classroom practices and provide opportunities for teacher reflection.
> Assist with curriculum planning and development to ensure mastery of the CCSS standards and Green Dot selected curricular materials.
> Support in the design and implementation of the Spanish Language program strategic plan
> Assist teachers with the diagnosis of student difficulties in Spanish classrooms through the use of student data and evidence and the planning of appropriate intervention strategies for diverse learners.
> Work collaboratively with school site administration and department chairs/ teacher leaders to plan and facilitate Spanish professional development.
> Engage in other duties relevant to the successful implementation of the Spanish Language Program
QUALIFICATIONS
As an ideal candidate, you:
> have at least 4 years teaching experience at the high school level
> have experience teaching native speakers, non-native speakers, and/or AP Spanish
> have a bachelor’s degree plus successful completion of the CBEST and CSET examinations (a Master’s in Education or related field preferred)
> have a valid CA Single Subject Spanish Credential
> have solid knowledge of subject matter including CA State Framework for World Language Standards
> have solid knowledge of adult learning theory and new teacher developmental needs
> have excellent verbal and written communication skills (essential)
> possess both knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population (EL, SEL, SpEd, and gifted and talented)
> are experienced in developing and facilitating professional development
> are dependable, humble, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve
> will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer

COMPENSATION
The starting salary range for this role is $82,000 to $92,000. Opportunities for salary growth are available over time; however, offers near the upper end of the salary range are uncommon. Individual education and experience will be considered when issuing offers.
