Abrams Vehicle Mechanic
The function of this position is to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Abrams platform and associated equipment to bring the fleet to a 1020 standard. You will conduct quality checks of vehicles in accordance with de-processing check sheets and Joint Technical Inspection forms. You will handle equipment modification and installation, assist team members in technical areas as needed, and perform safety operations, preventative maintenance checks and hold organizational maintenance procedures. Required Skills & Experience-Must have one (1) or more years of maintenance experience working the Abrams Tanks;-High school diploma or equivalent required;-Ability to effectively communicate (both orally & in writing) and interact with internal & external customers;-Must be able to gain access to US Military facilities or bases;-Required to work at heights, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, able to climb, kneel, stoop, bend and work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions;-Must posses a valid State Driver's License and be able to obtain a tank drivers license, if required;-Must meet the anthropometric requirements to entry into the drivers station or into an enclosed military vehicle;-Must be able to travel as required to support GDLS Ft. Hood maintenance, fielding and retrofit activities.
