The position at the NeuroTherapeutics Laboratory requires at a minimum a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, or related field. A high G.P.A. and prior research experience are preferred. The research focus will be to develop and test novel therapeutics for hearing loss and balance dysfunction. The experimental techniques used in the laboratory range from molecular biology, in vitro and in vivo experiments, imaging, signal processing, and electrophysiology. The employee will be supervised by Dr. Suhrud Rajguru and senior staff and work to assist in experiments being carried out in the laboratory, building and testing devices, day-to-day up keep and maintenance of the laboratory, providing engineering support as needed, and may be assigned independent project(s).

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
  • Participates in the data collection, analysis, and publication of significant results.
  • Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
  • Keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research.
  • Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens or tissue cultures.
  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies.
  • Performs calculations to complete research test results, collects data, and performs statistical analysis of laboratory results.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, or relevant field

Experience:

Research experience preferred.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
