Responsibilities What You'll Get To Do:
An expert in the field, uses in depth knowledge and application of principles, theories, concepts and techniques to resolve critical issues and broad design matters. Some barriers to entry exist at this level, e.g., dept, peer review, uses in depth professional knowledge and acumen to develop models and procedures, and monitor trends, within own discipline area.
Designs, validates and brings new products to market. Specifies precise new product functional requirements, designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs, and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety. Designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness for use testing, product specifications and process validation plans, creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials. Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability.
Design and Technical Support Design and develop nano and microstructured coatings with advanced optical, electrical, and thermal functionalities for various applications, including heaters, EMI shielding, and electrochromic devices.
Develop novel metamaterial design solutions for RF beam shaping reflectors, enhancing 5G communication systems, transparent antennas, and wireless sensing technologies.
Support the expansion of in house design software capabilities by integrating novel numerical approaches and high performance computing systems.
Contribute to the development and optimization of optical, electrical and RF characterization tools for high throughput and large scale characterization of fabricated devices.
Lead efforts to develop new intellectual property, including the preparation, filing, and management of domestic and foreign patent applications.
Participate in the development and execution of customer projects, including proposal writing and project management.
Provide guidance and training to the technical team throughout the product development process from theoretical principles to empirical testing procedures.

Qualifications What You'll Bring:
Education Degree required
PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering or relevant Applied Sciences
Experience Minimum 8 years experience required in:
The design, and optimization of nanostructured optical systems using analytical models and computational simulation tools.
Prototyping and advanced characterization of thin film material systems.
Advanced lithography tools and processes, e.g. ebeam, nanoimprint, phase mask lithography etc.
Experience with IP portfolio development.
Preferred:
15+ years experience in:
The design and optimization of nanostructured optical systems using analytical models and computational simulation tools.
Experience with IP portfolio development and management.
Competencies Work independently, may receive general instructions on unique or critical assignments and more complex issues.
Problem solving, resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways, uses advanced analytical and technical skills to adapt policies and programs and develop models to support smaller projects, focuses on providing analyses and applying results to improve business operations.
Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, problems are often complex, and analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation of variable factors.
Communications Demonstrated strong skill in communications, intercompany, sales office to BU, with customer key technical personnel, and relevant industry SME’s.
Other Requirements Domestic and or International Travel as required.

The salary or hourly wage range of $137,000 – $195,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. *The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
