Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: San Antonio, Texas

Salary: $110,000 - $150,000

Job Duties:

  • Spearhead the design and engineering of plumbing, piping, HVAC, fire protection systems, including detection, suppression, and alarm systems, specifically for data centers.
  • Create comprehensive engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for these fire protection systems.
  • Ensure that all designs adhere to applicable codes, standards, and regulations, such as NFPA, ICC, and local building codes.
  • Oversee fire protection engineering projects from initial concept through to completion, ensuring timely execution and budget compliance.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and construction teams to integrate fire protection systems seamlessly within the overall data center design.
  • Perform site visits and inspections to verify the proper installation and operation of fire protection systems.
  • Provide technical advice and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.
  • Stay informed about advancements in fire protection technology and industry trends.
  • Conduct risk assessments and fire safety evaluations for data center facilities.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, design documentation, and regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all fire protection systems to meet legal and safety requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing HVAC, plumbing, piping, fire protection, and mechanical systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

•Ideally seeking an individual with subject matter expertise and wide variety of experience in K-12, higher education, commercial, multi family, mixed use, government, and historical or hospitality related project exposure.
•Extensive knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, ICC).

  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Proven experience in project management, including leading projects and teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in fire protection engineering software and tools.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to handle ambiguity and lead others.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, BIM, and Revit.
